Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to STAND firm.
Come, bless the Lord
All ye servants of The Lord
Who STAND by night
In the house of the Lord;
Lift up your hands
In the Holy Place,
And bless the Lord!
~ Psalm 134:1,2
When we STAND before God, obeying His commandments (Christ in us) and walking in His Ways (Christ in us) the victory in ours because no enemy can STAND before us!
“For if you are careful to keep all this commandment which I am commanding you to do, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and hold fast to Him, then the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you. “Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours; your border will be from the wilderness to Lebanon, and from the river, the river Euphrates, as far as the western sea. “No man will be able to STAND before you; the LORD your God will lay the dread of you and the fear of you on all the land on which you set foot, as He has spoken to you.
Our authority to decree a thing is based on our STANDING before God!
Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the LORD, the God of Israel lives, before Whom I STAND, surely there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”
We STAND in His Grace and we exult in hope of the glory of God and ALSO in our tribulation.
Romans 5:1-5 NASB
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we STAND; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
We STAND because He causes us to STAND.
Romans 14:4 NASB
Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he STANDS or falls; and he will STAND, for the Lord is able to make him STAND.
If we merely “think” we STAND, we are likely STANDING on shaky ground and we could stumble and fall. Be diligent to KNOW upon what, and in Whom, we STAND, remaining diligent to progressively grow in Him, and we shall not stumble.
1 Corinthians 10:8-13 NASB
Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day. Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents. Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer. Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. Therefore let him who thinks he STANDS take heed that he does not fall. No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
2 Pet 1:10-11 NASB
Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.
We STAND in the FULL Gospel not in a partial gospel.
1 Corinthians 15:1-2 NASB
Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you STAND, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
We are free to STAND, we STAND in freedom and need not be subject ever again to bondage of any kind!
Galatians 5:1 NASB
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep STANDING firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
We STAND firm when and as we are clothed in Christ.
Ephesians 6:10-17 NASB
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to STAND firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to STAND firm. STAND firm therefore, having GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING put ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
We STAND firm TOGETHER in ONE Spirit and with ONE mind.
Philippians 1:27-30 NASB
Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are STANDING firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; in no way alarmed by your opponents-which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God. For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
We STAND by HIS establishing which is the TRUE grace in which we STAND.
1 Peter 5:9-12 NASB
But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen. Through Silvanus, our faithful brother (for so I regard him), I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God. STAND firm in it!
We STAND by faith in Him Who is able to keep us from stumbling, to make us STAND, blameless before Him!
Jude 1:24-25 NASB
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you STAND in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen!
This is by no means an exhaustive study on the word: “STAND”. I urge you to seek God, delve into His Word and see what else He has for us —- through YOU!
Bless you as you do!
